How Backgrounds For Twitter Can Boost Your Number Of Followers On The Valuable Micro-Blog

A simple glance through contemporary magazines, (whether traditional paper based affairs or online), will soon demonstrate just how obsessed with image the western world is today. No more is this demonstrated than with the varied, weird and wacky world of a background for Twitter.

While the quality of your tweets will be all important, the image you present of yourself through your background will help keep visitors hooked. It is not all about glossy finishes though; indeed, more important is regards the info you give of yourself.

Twitter themselves has of course done most of the groundwork for you and, the background selection they invite you to look through is, whilst not extensive, well presented and laid out.

Once we know what we are doing with our Twitter blogging though, then it really is necessary to put a little more effort in; particularly if we want to make it work for us.

Possibly the easiest way to set your background is simply uploading an image directly from your computer. Head for the settings page, (really not hard to find), and select Design / Change Background Image.

Once the image is selected, you then only need to decide which way to display it; tiled or centered. Be sure to check how the definition is altered when selecting this, and if tiling, make sure it doesn’t distract or create pain to the eyes.

The background is not all about the main graphic that sits behind the text of course; it is just as important to work on the color scheme, and tailor the layout and coloring of your text. Look at combinations that compliment; rather than draw the eye unnecessarily.

Indeed, if you have a blog of any sort, you should always put a link to your twitter page.  You can find follow me on twitter buttons that can be pasted right into your theme or website.

As with blogging in general; the backgrounds for Twitter you decide to run with should be reflective of you and your personal image. Take some time thinking about what suits you, rather than rushing to replace the Twitter offerings with something below standard.
